At the website of Oslo Nye Teater (Oslo New Theatre) the following, among other things, is written about A Streetcar Named Desire:

"The struggling, neurotic upper class beauty Blanche DuBois has fled her past and moved in with her sister Stella in a poor quarter in New Orleans. Here, the refined Blanche is confronted with her reality-based brother-in-law Stanley Kowalski, an American patriot and war veteran whose pride is wounded.

Tennessee Williams is called 'the poet of the outcast', which he demonstrates fully in this great American tragedy, in which the tension between powerful opposites is maintained until the very end, and we are left with a form of compassion with all the characters of the drama. A Streetcar Named Desire is a rough, violent and emotional story of doom from a crisis-ridden, divided USA."
