At the webpage of Nordland Theatre the following, among other things, is written about A Charming Mass Suicide:

"It is midsummer, and - after yet another bankruptcy - CEO Rellonen enters a barn, with the purpose of shooting himself. In it, he finds the officer Kemppainen, who is about to fasten a rope to a beam. Together, they decide to postpone their actions, and after a long discussion the same night, they arrive at a solution they are both satisfied with: They want to gather suicide candidates from all over the country for a seminar.

At the seminar, a group decide to commit collective suicide, after which they embark on a madcap journey in a luxury bus headed towards'the realm of death'.

A Charming Mass Suicide was the fourth of Paasilinna's books to be translated into the Norwegian, and it unites all his typical traits: A humorous approach to sombre themes and great empathy for the most ordinary people's lives and problems."
