At the webpage of Carte Blanche the following, among other things, is written about Jerada**:

"Through her distinctive use of dance, song and stage, Bouchra Ouizguen brings us into her world - inspired by her own cultural and musical education. With genuine passion, involvement and interpretative ability she shares her personal story, inviting us to visit an unfamiliar territory in the space between the desert and the stage. She shows us a place where unexplored streets, doorways and scents become recognizable. The dancers went to Marrakech in search of this place.

(...)

Dancer and choreographer Bouchra Ouizguen (1980) is from Ouarzazate, the city situated by the great desert in Morocco. She now lives and works in Marrakesh, where since 1998 she has helped to develop the local dance community and created a number of experimental performances."

In his speech during the awards ceremony for Norwegian Critics' Award for dance 2016/2017,  Knut Ove Arntzen said the following, among other things, about Jerada:

"Ouizguen's Jerada is completely in thread with Hooman Sharifi and Carte Blanche's wish to work with choreographers with a strong drive and will to talk of identity, nationality, borders, gender, plurality, minority, community and empathy. This is particularly relevant in works including countries normally in the periphery of our consciousness. Carte Blanche has expanded our world with Bouchara Ouizguen's Jerada. Thus, this choreography, performed by dancers at a very high artistic and technical level, deserves Norwegian Critics' Award for dance 2016/2017."

The speech can be read in full at the webpage of Norwegian Critics' Association (Norwegian-language version only).
