Peer Gynt

Peer Gynt (1962) was a theatre production by The Norwegian Theatre, based on the play by Henrik Ibsen. The production was staged at the theatre's facilities in Stortingsgaten. It was revived the autumn of 1965, with some changes in the cast.

Tormod Skagestad directed it.

In 1962, Rolf Søder and Lasse Kolstad alternated in the title role. In 1965, it was only played by Kolstad.

Liv Ullmann played the role of Solveig. Lise Fjeldstad took over the role in 1965.

Astrid Sommer played Mother Aase. The role marked her 40th anniversary as an actress at The Norwegian Theatre.

Arne Walentin created the stage design, and when the production was performed as a visiting performance at Théâtre des Nations in Paris in 1963, he was given a French critics' award.

Peer Gynt also visited Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Germany the spring of 1963.

Peer Gynt visited Deutsche Shauspielhaus in Hamburg in 1965.
