At the webpage of Oslo Nye Teater (Oslo New Theatre) the following, among other things, is written about Scenes from a Marriage:

"Johan and Marianne have been married for ten years and live a successful, but rather loveless life. He teaches psychiatry and she is a lawyer whose specialty is family law, in particular divorce.

When Johan one day admits that he has been unfaithful and that he is in love with another woman, their life together is threatened. Marianne is caught in an emotional conflict, drawn in different directions and with opposing feelings, towards the betrayal as well as the love she still feels for Johan. Will he leave the family? Is forgiveness possible? Should they get a divorce?"
