The Babel Project
The Open Theatre (Det Åpne Teater) in collaboration with Artistas Unidos (Portugal), presented the autumn of 2008 the Norwegian premiere of The Babel Project with text by Jesper Halle and Miguel Castro Caldas, directed by Franzisca Aarflot:
Skit arrives Europe from his «sinking» home land. After a failed attempt at applying for a resident visa he gets an illegal job in construction, something which turns out to give him a series of challenges. But Skit doesn’t give up too easily, and he is determined to manage, no matter the cost.

In The Babel Project director Franzisca Aarflot mixed circus, music, acrobatics and poetry into a story about illegal work immigration written by Jesper Halle and Miguel Castro Caldas. The actors performed in a four-floor scaffolding built onstage.
The Babel Project had its world wide premiere in the Citemor festival in Montemor-o-velho, Portugal, July 31 2008. The Norwegian premiere took place in an old factory in Tøyenbekken 12, Grønland, Oslo.
The Babel Project was supported by Telenor, MFA, The Fund for Performing Artists and the Culture Program of EU.
