"Laughter was loose during the performance and there is no doubt it gave the youngest a wish to read."

More about Bokbøfler og Lesehester* (Book buffalos and Reading horses)

The performance for children Bokbøfler og Lesehester* (Book buffalos and Reading horses) by The Stage Company is an interactive musical theatre performance in which the children participate throughout the performance. Through acting and puppetry, playing games and being serious, stories, liking for reading and literature are conveyed. Bokbøfler og Lesehester offers readings, oral storytelling traditions, rhymes, singsong games and books as a source to facts and imagination. The children also are to create a story of their own.

The children can bring their own books to the performance. After it they can bring the impressions from the performance to their classrooms to present their own books, make their own stories and continuing examining the exciting jungle of books.

In Bokbøfler og Lesehester the audience joins the librarians Finken and Felix on a book safari. They are two enthusiastic, curious and involving exploration travellers on a journey through the jungle of books. Meet the Reading Horse – the most curious girl of the jungle. Look out for the Book Buffalo – the bully who steps on all the books because they are boring (or perhaps because he could use a pair of glasses?)

The Stage Company has developed Bokbøfler og Lesehester in collaboration with Kristin Knutsson of the county library of Vest-Agder and the children’s literature consultant Anne-Margrethe Bjorvand of Agder University College.
