Palacio de Bellas Artes was inaugerated in 1956 during the dictatorship of Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina.

Palacio de Bellas Artes houses in an area of 13,000 square meters The National Theatre, The National School of Visual Arts, the National Folkloric Ballet, the National Choir, the National Dance School, the office of the National Symphony Orchestra, National Classical Ballet School Drama, Theater of Fine Arts and the National School of Dance.
