Kristian Fr. Figenschow jr

Kristian Fr. Figenschow jr (born 1962) is a Norwegian actor.

Kristian Fr. Figenschow has no formal theatre education, and describes himself as 'autodidact'.

Prior to starting working for Hålogaland Theatre in 1989 he was very active in the revue community of Tromsø, and he had also taken part in the Norwegian fiction film Piratene* (The Pirates). More movies have added to that later, as Kristian Fr. Figenschow has played in Vagabonds as well as Insomnia, and he took part in Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation's series Offshore.

At Hålogaland Theatre Kristian Fr. Figenschow jr. has played a number of comical roles. For instance he had great success in Arthur Arntzen's Den fordømte nordlendingen* (The Damned Northerner) and he also acted in Oluf, Vett og uvett* (Sense and the senseless), Hemmel og hav* (Sky and sea, spelled as in the Northern Norwegian dialect of Tromsø) and Boer Boerson Jr. With Ketil Høegh he performed the Northern Norwegian version of Stones in His Pockets.

He played the master of ceremonies in Cabaret and Billy Flynn in Chicago.

He has also interpreted classic male roles: Hjalmar Ekdal in The Wild Duck, Stockmann in An Enemy of The People, Vershinin in Three Sisters and Borkin in Ivanov.

At Nordland Theatre he had the title role in Holberg's Jeppe of the Hill in 2000.

Kristian Fr. Figenschow jr was nominated to The Hedda Award 2005 in the category of excellent performance for his interpretation of Puntila in Brecht's Puntila at Hålogaland Theatre. Kristian Fr. Figenschow jr also was nominated for The Hedda Award 2007 in the best leading actor category for the role of Pastor Manders in Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen, Hålogaland Theatre.
