On Sceneweb BETA
Welcome to the beta version of Sceneweb, a Norwegian performing arts database. You will find registers of some of what is now performing and an historical archive. You can search for information on productions, people, companies, institutions, venues and awards within the field of Norwegian dance and theatre. Eventually we wish to offer a complete archive of performers and productions within Norwegian performing arts, across institutions and independent companies.
The aim of Sceneweb is to provide the users with one single archive of information on Norwegian performing arts, the activity and history. We wish to document and convey Norwegian cultural heritage, past and present, and to increase the knowledge to Norwegian performing arts.
CONTENT
Sceneweb is in beta version when it comes to content as well. Because of this, information will be missing from some objects, and there may be errors. You can report such flaws to the editors by using the red buttons "Do you see anything missing?"/"Do you see anything wrong?". These buttons can be found within every topic page, in the menu to the right.
Sceneweb is a database of facts, videos, images, sound and texts from and about Norwegian performing arts. You can find information on Norwegian theatre and dance productions produced within the field of independent performing arts, international visiting performances having visited Norway, the repertoire of Oslo Nye Teater (Oslo New Theatre) and some other material from national and regional institutions. As of now the database contains some 22 200 objects. You can search for approximately 4 650 productions and more than 10 000 persons involved, as directors, choreographers, actors, dancers, playwrights, composers, technicians, stage designers etc. Here are also catalogues of the professional organisations, venues, awards, writers and publishers of texts about performing arts.
The database consists of six main categories; productions, persons, organisations, venues, awards and original works. In addition there are media files, such as photos, programs, videos, reviews and posters. Every element has a page of its own with linked content.
We will continuously update the database with more material, making Sceneweb an increasingly rich source of information on Norwegian performing arts. We disclaim liability for errors and omissions.
YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE
All users can contribute to the content of the database. We greatly appreciate reactions and further information. You can use the report functions found at every page for this.
RIGHTS AND CONDITIONS
Sceneweb makes every reasonable effort to follow copyright laws and privacy laws when publishing licensed material. Please contact us if you want any content removed according to these rules.
Some material is labelled Free Licence. This licence allows non-commercial use of the material, for example in teaching. Please remember that you still have to name your source.
All other use requires making an agreement with the individual copyright owner, see reference to sources. If the source is not named, the material belongs to Sceneweb.
SITE SEARCH TIPS
The global search box is located above the top menu. Using this box will search the full database.
Each category has its own search box, located at the portal page of each category. Using this will search for elements within the current category.
If you wish to search for several elements at the same time, for instance two actors, enter each name in quotes ("). It will provide a tidier list of results. For example: "Tore Brunborg" "Yngve Sundvor"
Searching dates: For the search function to understand the date, you need to follow a standard format. Enter the full date in quotes ("). Write the month in full. A full stop after the day is optional. For example:
"5. December 1917"
or
"5 December 1917"
or
"November 2011"
If you write '5. December 1917' without quotes (") in the search box the query will return many results, as it searches for all three elements separately and not the specific date.
There is no need for quotes if the search term only contains years. You will want to use this format: 2011
